I am a scholar and teacher of American literature and digital humanities. I received my PhD in 2014 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and held an Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Digital Humanities in 2014-15. In addition to my position in the Department of English, I am also affiliated faculty in Virginia Tech's Department of Religion and Culture.

I have published articles in J19: The Journal of Nineteenth-Century Americanists, Essays in Romanticism, and Digital Humanities Quarterly. My first monograph, Heaven's Interpreters: Women Writers and Religious Agency in Nineteenth-century America, was published in September 2020 by Cornell University Press. Thanks to Virginia Tech's participation in the TOME Initiative, the book is available in a free open-access edition.
